Hazel the Baby Hedgehog Stuck in the Flower Pot 🐾 | Animal Rescue
All it took was a rolling red apple.
Tiny baby hedgehog Hazel was exploring Grandma's garden when a shiny red apple rolled past her nose. She chased it — straight into a big terracotta flower pot. The apple kept going. Hazel did not. She tumbled in and found herself stuck at the bottom, little paws scrabbling at the curved clay walls.
Hedgehogs are brave, but Hazel was only a baby, and the pot was very big.
That is when Oliver heard the rustling. Oliver — curly hair, blue overalls, the kind of boy who stops for every small creature — peered into the pot and found two frightened eyes looking back at him. Gently, carefully, he lifted Hazel out with his warm cap, the way you would carry something precious.
Then came the best part. A teacup bubble bath to wash the garden dirt off her tiny spines. A sip of warm goat's milk in the sunny garden shed. And as the sun went down, a joyful reunion with her mama hedgehog at the edge of the garden — the kind of ending that makes the whole day worth it.
Hazel's story is a gentle reminder: even the smallest animals deserve a hero. Oliver didn't need special training or fancy equipment. He just needed to hear the rustling — and care enough to look.
